# Aurora — public-domain sheet music provenance

All six demo repertoire titles now correspond to existing SATB arrangements in the **Mutopia Project**. The actual original engravings were typeset and marked **Public Domain** by their volunteer typesetters; the work pages link to the A4 PDF editions. We verified those source pages and their copyright notices before including the links.

## Which PDFs are included?

The "Open score" action displays the **original Mutopia publisher PDF when online**, giving visitors the authentic published notation and layout. Since direct PDF downloads into this build environment were blocked, the six **locally bundled** PDFs are newly engraved from the notes in the public-domain Mutopia source files, NOT verbatim publisher PDFs. They remain accessible offline through the Download button. Source transcriptions and IDs are recorded in `source/build_real_scores.py` (the Beethoven offline score generator is `source/build_ode.py`). No sheet music was invented for this update.

## Audio / rights

The thirty existing MP3s are **synthesized instrumental rehearsal tracks**, not live choir recordings. Apart from Ode to Joy, the tracks were originally created for Aurora under earlier demo titles, so they **do not necessarily match the new public-domain scores**. This is intentional for the visual/navigation demo, and should be corrected before using the project for actual rehearsals.

Audio uses TimGM6mb.sf2 (Tim Brechbill and David Bolton), distributed as GPL version 2. The relevant text remains bundled as `LICENSE-TimGM6mb-GPL-2.txt`; comply with applicable GPL distribution obligations and seek legal review before real commercial use. The score's public-domain status does not automatically determine the audio's license.
